Fear of the Future Tapping Script

Will our world ever be the same again?

Now that restrictions are starting to ease and vaccination programs are rolling out in many countries, I’m noticing an increasing unease and uncertainty about how things are going to be long-term. Will life ever get back to ‘normal’? None of us really know how our world will be as the threat of Covid recedes, and how many of the changes will be permanent. For many of us, there isn’t any choice and we may feel at the mercy of events and out of control. Fear of what the future holds and fear of the unknown is a very common and natural feeling.

It is important to look at our fears and not shove them down. Sometimes simply acknowledging them is enough to take the edge off them, and when we add the balancing and de-stressing effects of tapping on the acupressure points, things can really begin to shift.

One way to ease the grip of fear on us is to build our inner strength and energy. We can do this by bringing more energy in through practices of self-care and nourishment, for example by making sure we get more sleep, taking time to practice yoga or qigong, making exercise a priority, or whatever nurturing yourself means to you!

As well as building our energy reserves, it’s important to stop energy drains and leaks. It’s no use charging your battery if it runs down again very quickly. Think about how your energy drains through your senses, and how you could avoid that. It can be as simple as restricting your news consumption, or cutting down on screen time. If you live in a busy, noisy family, it may mean insisting on a quiet half hour by yourself every day.

*If you are prone to anxiety or panic attacks, or experience PTSD, or have a phobia, please do not use this script. Instead, use No-Words Tapping – see my Traffic Lights Tapping video for how to do it.*

*If you are new to tapping, first watch some of my free videos to learn how to tap.*

Please bear in mind these tips for using tapping scripts effectively:

·        Tapping scripts are a guide, to give you ideas of what to say. Tailor it to resonate with YOUR feelings and words. If something doesn’t resonate with you, leave it out or change it to something that works for you. Be specific not global (‘frustrated with too many Zoom meetings’, not just ‘frustrated’).

·        If you get triggered or overwhelmed, drop the words and KEEP TAPPING. Just use No-Words Tapping until you feel calm, and seek the help of a qualified EFT practitioner or other healthcare professional.

·        Say the words out loud as you tap on each of the points.

·        Before you tap, rate your feeling on the topic from 0-10 where 0 is no intensity and 10 is very high intensity. Each time through the points rate it again. Keep repeating the tapping script, changing the words as you need, until you reach 1 or 0. If you get stuck around a 4 or 5, probably something else is coming up – please reach out if you need help.
